Sue Beckett’s extensive experience in music education is far-reaching. She has taught across all Key Stages as well as in Special Education and Early Years.

Sue started her career as a class teacher and music co-ordinator and went on to work as Advisory Teacher for Devon Youth Music, Adviser for Hampshire Music Service, Deputy Director of Southampton Music Services and is currently Head of Portsmouth Music Service and Music Adviser for Guernsey. Sue has been the Director of drum4success for over 10 years and has worked with thousands of adults and children during this time.

Sue’s experience includes working as an OFSTED Inspector, a Workforce Re-modeling Adviser, Creativity Consultant and as a Music Service Evaluation Partner for the Federation of Music Services. Sue currently provides training for Local Authorities across the country and has led training in Europe and the Channel Islands. She leads INSET days, national courses, school/community workshops, music festivals in addition to corporate training events.

Amongst her publications is the popular series Music Works and the Musical Elements’ poster. Sue is a certified trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and has a passion for enabling and empowering both adults and children to improve and enhance their performance through excellence in communication and the management of their own personal state.

Sue aims to enable both children and adults to discover the fun of making music and to develop a confidence in their own abilities so that music enhances and transforms their lives. She has just taken up the euphonium in order to join the local brass band!
